How to use Cervinodata's Facebook Ads data studio template

Google Data Studio is a powerful way to report on key summary data from alls sorts of sources. Many online marketing agencies and online marketers uses Data Studio for reporting or dashboard purposes.

It's also possible to report on the data coming from one or more Facebook Ads accounts. When using multiple Facebook Ads accounts for your data studio report you need a function that is called "blending". In some cases it is better, though, to blend the data before you use it in Data Studio. That is for instance the case when there are more than a couple of Facebook Ads accounts you wish to report on (i.e. when each countries has it's own Facebook Ads account or when combining the data from multiple brands) or when you need to add or remove accounts on a regular basis. Blending data in Google Data Studio will then take too much of your time.

See the step-by-step instructions on how to add a Facebook Ads account from the free Cervinodata Data Studio template or how to remove it.

What's in the Facebok Ads Data Studio template?

This article shows you what's inside the template, how exactly Cervinodata's Data Studio template for multiple Facebook Ads works and how easy it is to add or remove an account. The Facebook Ads template has multiple dropdowns for easy filtering.

Dropdown: Organisations

Cervinodata allows you to group data by Organisation. In the case of the multiple Facebook Ads it allows you to group a couple of ad accounts to one organisation (Brand A), and a couple of others to another organisation (Brand B) and still be able to report on all organisations.

This "Organisation" layer allows you to do one more very clever thing: It allows you to add or remove Facebook Ads accounts with just a few click, without having to change anything in Data Studio. How this works is explained in more detail below.

Dropdown: Filter multiple ad accounts

Simply select specific ad account to show only that ad account you wish to see in the graphs and tables.

Add a new ad account? Simple go to Cervinodata, connect the Facebooks Ad account to the Organisation you have created your dashboard for and on the next refresh the new ad account will automagically appear.

Remove a Facebook Ads account? Just disconnect the ad account from the Organisation with one simple click and on the next refresh of the data, your ad account (and it's data) will not be in your data studio dashboard anymore. Try that with a Google Sheet.

Dropdown: Campign group

This Data Studio template has a built in campaign grouping filter. This powerful filter allows you to filter the entire dashboard on a grouped set of campaigns. You can easily create a campaign group inside of Cervinodata.

All graphs and tables in the template will be filtered to display only the data for the selected campaign group and shows you at-a-glance what that the total performance is of all the campaigns in that group.

Date range

Cervinodata blends the data from multiple Facebook Ads accounts together, where the data is spilt by Organisation, By ad account, by campaign group and per day.

This allows you to quickly see the results from the last 90 days or compare the current year with the same period last year. Just select the needed date range from the data range picker in the top right "dropdown".

We have chosen to show the results in the graphs by months, but for more details, it's possible to drill down the graphs to show the results (by ad account) by day.

Since it is easy to create your own tables in Google Data Studio so you can add your own tables and choose your own metrics to report on. Get the Facebook Ads data studio template here.

What metrics are available in the Facebook Ads template?

We've kept the Facebook Ads template relatively simple, with a few key metrics and a set of calculated metrics.

But inside the data set of this template, a whole lot of Facebook Ads metrics are available. See the screenshot below or check out our support page with the latest status: https://support.cervinodata.com/hc/articles/360014510740-Available-Facebook-Ads-metrics
